Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lin Jian called this “a complete political lie” and repudiated Ottawa’s defamatory attacks.

According to the spokesman, the document in question is full of ambiguous terms such as “possibly,” “perhaps,” “potentially,” and does not present substantial evidence for its arguments.

“The report, full of ideological bias, is a deliberate manipulation by certain Canadian politicians to deceive and confuse the public, distorting reality and contradicting themselves,” Lin added.

The official pointed out that Canada has long intervened rudely in China’s internal affairs on sensitive issues such as Taiwan, Xinjiang, Tibet, and Hong Kong, among other issues.

The spokesman urged Canada to do a self-assessment and reflect on the issue of foreign interference. He also called to abandon ideological bias and immediately stop its attacks and smears against China.

It is not the first time that Canada has made these kinds of comments as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau previously claimed that China was trying to interfere in the elections.

Ties between China and Canada have gone through times of high tension since 2018, after the arrests of an executive from the Chinese technology giant Huawei in Canada and of Canadian citizens by China.
