After the closing of campaigns in the last hours, among the presidential candidates who could receive more support at the polls are the current leader of the ruling military junta Mahamat Idriss Deby and the incumbent Prime Minister Succes Masra.
Deby Itno has the backing of the coalition For a United Chad, which includes over 200 political parties and movements, while Masra, according to television media, is participating in the democratic exercise with the support of a broad spectrum of the opposition.
During his electoral rallies, the current interim PM of the State promised his supporters to ensure the optimization of defense and security, national reconciliation and to organize a referendum on a new Constitution.
The polling stations in Chad, to which more than eight million voters were summoned, should open their doors this Monday from 7:00 to 18.00 local time, while the results of the popular consultation will be officially announced on May 21st.
In case a second round of voting is necessary, it will take place on June 22, the ANGE referred.
