A press release from the Spanish Foreign Ministry on Saturday indicated that the terms used in the text issued by Javier Milei’s presidency “do not correspond to the relations of two brother countries and peoples.”

The statement from Milei’s office criticizes the president of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, and Minister of Transport Óscar Puente.

‘The Spanish Government and the people will continue to maintain and strengthen their fraternal ties and relations of friendship and collaboration with the Argentine people, a will that is shared by Spanish society,’ the Foreign Ministry stressed.

In Argentina’s statement, the representation of far-right President Milei criticized statements by Puente, who criticized the Argentine head of State at an event in Salamanca.

However, it also criticized Sánchez in very harsh terms, about whom it said that “he has more important issues to deal with, such as the accusations of corruption against his wife, an issue that even led him to evaluate his resignation.”

At the same time, it noted that for the good of Spain, “we hope that justice acts quickly to clarify such a corruption scandal that directly affects the stability of your nation and, consequently, relations with our country.”
