During her visit, Kamikawa is expected to meet with senior government officials, including President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, according to Adaderana.

Local media reported that among the topics to be discussed during the Japanese foreign minister’s talks with Sri Lankan authorities are the resumption of economic ties and development commitments, as well as the progress of investment projects financed by Japan.

The Japanese representative plans a joint conference with her counterpart, Ali Sabry, after the meeting between the leaders.

In a recent press conference, the head of Japanese diplomacy noted the importance of her visit to Sri Lanka.

Japan, Sri Lanka and Nepal have established deep mutual trust based on many years of development cooperation and people-to-people exchanges. Through my visit, we will further strengthen our cooperation, she said.

Kamikawa added that Japan will reiterate its cooperation with the Sri Lankan Government and confirm collaboration on freedom of information and protection of privacy, on projects related to women’s empowerment, peace and security, as well as disarmament and non-proliferation.
