Directed by Leiván García Valle, with music by the CFNC, the show pays tribute to Ciclo Congo (1963) and the first musical-dance show of the emblematic group.
The show is dedicated to the Bantu culture and its arrival in Cuba, recounting the experiences of black slaves when the Caribbean island was under Spanish rule.
“Comunidad” is the result of the Beca Milanés Creation Award granted by the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS), an organization that brings together young creators from all over the country.
The show is inspired by the novel “Demonio sobre Césped Cortado” (Demon on Cut Grass) by Cuban writer Taimi Dieguez.
The cast includes pianist, composer, and arranger Alejandro Falcón and Digna Guerra with the National Choir of Cuba.
