What serious conference with serious expectations, what results can we talk about without Russia’s participation? It is completely impossible. It is clear that this is an initiative not aimed at any results, Peskov told reporters.
The spokesman reiterated that the Russian position on the negotiations is “consistent and absolutely transparent”. Switzerland will hold a peace conference on Ukraine on June 15-16 in Burgenstock, near the city of Lucerne.
Last April 9, the spokesman of the Russian Embassy in Bern, Vladimir Jojlov, communicated that, if Moscow “receives an invitation to such an event, Russia will not accept it,” as the summit is “another option to push forward an unworkable Ukrainian peace formula that does not take into account Russian interests.”
Also Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated on April 11 that Moscow will not participate in the event, as it only represents a platform to promote the so-called Zelensky peace formula.
Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis remarked that no peace process can take place without Russia.
On April 12, Russian diplomatic chief Sergey Lavrov warned that the possible presentation of a “collective ultimatum” to Russia at the conference in Switzerland on Ukraine negates any chance of that event’s success.
