After visiting the firm in Brazil, the president of the ESM, Jorge Alvarado, explained the possibilities of collaboration that are open. “The most important thing about this visit is the rapprochement with the Vetorial company because we are seeing that we can work together on many things,” Alvarado told the press, adding that alliances can be achieved, for example, with regard to sales of steel in joint exports.
The official commented that he held conversations with Vetorial personnel and subsequently visited the pig iron production plant, the mineral unloading area, the iron yard, the control room and the power generation plant.
Alvarado added that the Secretary of Sustainable Development of the Prefecture of Corumbá, Cassio Augusto Da Costa Marques, promoted the visit in order to carry out this exchange of technology and knowledge. “Our objective is that the entire region that is producing or undertaking, knows to eventually make agreements or exchanges that benefit both sides. So, we are very satisfied with that and we consider an objective accomplished,” he said.
According to Alvarado, an important issue of the visit was to see the possibility of purchasing pig iron to produce steel while the Direct Iron Reduction Plant (DRI) is being built.
The official announced that six plants in the entire Steel Complex will begin operating starting on September of this year, so until the DRI is built it is feasible to buy pig iron and produce steel with that component. This will guarantee the operation of the Steelmaking and Rolling Plants and obtaining corrugated bars and wire rod, he said.
For his part, the commercial director of Vetorial, Paulo Roberto Viana, maintained that there is the purpose of negotiating, of making an exchange with the commercialization of pig iron. “It is a pleasure to have President Jorge visit here to be able to develop new growth projects for both Vetorial and the ESM,” he expressed.

Siderúrgica de Bolivia busca alianza estratégica con firma brasileña
La Paz, 2 may (Prensa Latina) La Empresa Siderúrgica boliviana del Mutún (ESM) explora alianzas estratégicas con su similar brasileña Vetorial en busca de intercambio de conocimientos y de la compra de arrabio, confirmó una fuente oficial.
Tras visitar la firma en Brasil, el presidente de la ESM, Jorge Alvarado, explicó las posibilidades de colaboración que se abren. “Lo más importante de esta visita es el acercamiento con la empresa Vetorial porque estamos viendo que en muchas cosas podemos trabajar junto”, declaró Alvarado a la prensa, y añadió que se pueden lograr alianzas, por ejemplo, en lo que respecta a la venta de acero en exportaciones conjuntas.
El funcionario comentó que sostuvo conversaciones con personal de Vetorial y posteriormente visitó las instalaciones de la planta de producción de arrabio, el área de descarga del mineral, el patio de hierro, la sala de controles y la planta de generación de energía.
Alvarado agregó que el secretario de Desarrollo Sustentable de la Prefectura de Corumbá, Cassio Augusto Da Costa Marques, propició la visita con el fin de realizar este intercambio de tecnología y conocimientos. “Nuestro objetivo es que toda la región que esté produciendo o emprendiendo, conozca para eventualmente hacer convenios o intercambios que beneficien a ambos lados. Entonces, estamos muy satisfechos por eso y consideramos un objetivo cumplido”, dijo.
Según Alvarado, un asunto importante de la visita fue ver la posibilidad de comprar arrabio para producir acero mientras se termine de construir la Planta de Reducción Directa del Hierro (DRI).
El funcionario anunció que seis plantas de todo el Complejo Siderúrgico empezarán a operar desde septiembre de este año, por lo cual hasta que esté construida la DRI es factible comprar arrabio y con ese componente producir acero. De esa forma se puede garantizar la operación de las plantas de Acería y Laminado y obtener barras corrugadas, así como alambrón, dijo.
Por su parte, el director comercial de Vetorial, Paulo Roberto Viana, sostuvo que existe el propósito de negociar, de hacer intercambio con la comercialización de arrabio. “Es un placer tener la visita del presidente Jorge acá para poder desarrollar nuevos proyectos de crecimiento tanto para Vetorial como para la ESM”, expresó.
