In statements to Sputnik news agency, the officer of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), Ukraine’s official version now is that it was a tragic coincidence that resulted in the deaths of 48 people, 42 of whom died in the House of Trade Unions.

However, it was not a coincidence, but a planned operation, Prozorov explained that this is confirmed by a document dated in late April 2014, which fell into his hands when he was serving at the SBU Anti-Terrorist Center.

According to his words, the document was signed by SBU Chairman Valentin Nalyvaichenko, who sent to Ukrainian Acting President Alexander Turchynov his proposals to suppress the protests of activists of the Anti-Maidan movement in the south and east of the country by military means.

In late April 2014, the SBU proposed to carry out large-scale military operations with the participation of the army, the former official noted, adding that Ukrainian authorities were well aware that their actions would lead to casualties among civilians, including children.

In Odessa, after the coup in 2014, Anti-Maidan activists set up tents as a sign of protest.

On the evening of May 2, clashes began between protesters and Kharkov and Odessa soccer ultras, on one side, and Euro-Maidan participants, on the other.

The fighting ended with the destruction of tents, after which the coup plotters and nationalists set the House of Trade Unions on fire, where the Anti-Maidan representatives took refuge.

On that day, according to official data, 48 people lost their lives during the tragedy and more than 250 were injured.
