On X, the Cuban leader expressed his support for the university students, “who have taken the side of justice, have come out to support the cause of the Palestinian people, and are brutally repressed in their own university campuses”.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez posted on X a footage depicting police repression against U.S. students.
Rodriguez added that while Cuba celebrates International Workers’ Day, governments that present themselves as defenders of Human Rights, showing their double standards, repress and impede the exercise and claim of legitimate rights.
The pro-Palestinian protests started at Columbia University on April 17 and from a few young people gathered, the flame spread to centers of higher education in more than 30 states of the northern nation.
