Santos is attending the 69th Meeting of the UN Tourism Regional Commission at the Meliá Varadero Hotel, prior to the 42nd International Tourism Fair of Cuba (FITCuba 2024), scheduled from May 1 to 5 at the Jardines del Rey coastalr resort.

Among the issues that the executive addressed with Prensa Latina were connectivity, competitiveness, digitalization and education, along with the need to work together with countries and companies.

He considered that such matters were fundamental for the development of tourism in Latin America, where Cuba occupies a relevant position in the recovery of the sector.

He added that they are working intensively on these lines, in innovation projects. One of his points of view is to share experiences and good practices among destinations and countries, in both the public and private sectors.

Santos expressed his conviction that the region represents the tourism of the future, since the countries have it all. He mentioned the issue of connectivity, especially to ensure multi-destination.

In addition, he pointed out that one of the relevant points of the current meeting is the need to work together and thus seek solutions to the problems. jg/arm/mem/tdd/rf
