Coordinated by the Juan Marinello Cultural Research Institute, attached to the Ministry of Culture, the event is also supported by the Ministry of Education, among other Cuban organizations and institutions.
The showcase will pay tribute to the 50th anniversary of the first two animated short films starring the emblematic Cuban character Elpidio Valdés, directed by Juan Padrón, who won the National Film Award in 2008.
According to organizers, in this fourth edition of MICE, Cuba will screen more than 170 audiovisual works from 15 countries in the country’s major movie theaters.
They will be professional and educational works and audiovisuals produced by children and adolescents in learning environments. For the first time, higher education and early childhood will be included.
The students themselves will vote for their favorite short film in each category, and the winning motion pictures will be awarded at the closing ceremony on May 11.
As in previous editions, the Showcase will consist of lectures and workshops by national and international experts who will share their knowledge.
