The operations were carried out in cooperation with Russian forces operating in the country at the request of the government since 2015, and targeted radicals’ headquarters in Idlib and Aleppo provinces.
The attacks also left several terrorists dead or wounded, the ministry indicated.
On the other hand, a military unit operating in the coastal province of Latakia neutralized several drones by means of which the extremists intended to attack localities under government control.
Military sources indicated that during the last hours six headquarters of the terrorist groupings west of Aleppo were destroyed by artillery and missile fire by the Syrian army.
They indicated that two vehicles of foreign mercenaries affiliated to the so-called “Turkestan Party” group were annihilated with drones.
The Syrian Armed Forces, with the support and advice of the Russian military, increased the use of kamikaze drones in their actions against targets of terrorist groups during the last months, in a new tactic that gives effective results in terms of precision and elimination of large number of armed extremists.
The Syrian army managed in 2020 to liberate 55 percent of Idlib province, where radicals use hundreds of thousands of civilians as human shields and attack civilian communities and national army points.
