According to the director of Educational Programs of the Institute of World Military Economics and Strategy, Artyom Kuznetsov, this is the first time that the institution organizes a seminar on the subject face-to-face at the headquarters of the Higher School of Economics.
Prensa Latina learnt that the purpose of the scientific and practical seminar was to discuss the most urgent security issues in the Latin American region and the prospects for military-technical cooperation of the Russian Federation with the interested countries.
Representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Foreign Ministry, the Rossotrudnichestvo arms exporting company, the academic community, as well as the diplomatic missions of Venezuela and Cuba took part at the forum.
During the discussions the Venezuelan ambassador to Moscow, Jesus Salazar, commented that US is trying to promote war and terror in any part of the world to boost its military industrial sector, and the Latin American region is no exception.
Seminar participants also discussed the key factors of instability in Latin America and the Caribbean region, the main security threats, and the region as a scenario of geopolitical rivalry between the main world powers, among other issues.
