Survivors of the tragedy confirmed that 30 people were in the vehicle, some of whom are still missing.

Since mid-March, heavy downpours have hit Nairobi and other areas of the country, leaving behind almost eight dozen dead, 84 according to unofficial figures, 40 of them in the last 48 hours, and 131,000 displaced people fleeing to higher ground to save their lives after losing everything in their places of residence.

Although the whole country in one way or another suffers from the downpours, the most affected regions are the center and the west, including the capital where the floods sweep away the flimsiest houses in shanty towns located in poor districts.

The drama is more tragic as the Institute of Meteorology predicted the continuation of the rains. ç
