At his regular press conference on Friday, the president stated that it will be a very important meeting, which will possibly take place on the border between the two countries.
López Obrador described Arévalo as a good president, considering him “a first class person,” intelligent, honest and “with a lot of love for the people.” He was the best thing that could have happened to Guatemala, Lopez Obrador added.
On Wednesday, Secretary of Foreign Affairs Alicia Bárcena held a working meeting with Guatemalan Foreign Minister Carlos Ramiro Martínez to follow up on the most relevant issues on the bilateral agenda, as well as other regional and multilateral matters, to strengthen relations.
