Both the artillery of the president of the Sovereign Transitional Council (CST), loyal to Al Burhan, and that of the Rapid Reaction Forces (RSF) militia are hitting the city of Al Fasher, where the situation is worsening every minute, spokesman X Magango told the press here.
He also said that the air force, attached to the CST, is using air-to-ground rockets and confirmed that at least 43 people, including women and children, were killed until Friday in the fighting for the control of the city of Al Fasher.
He added that Commissioner Volker Turk is working for an immediate ceasefire leading to an end to the conflict and urged the rivals to allow the passage of non-belligerents to safe areas, the protection of civilian targets and to enable humanitarian access.
Furthermore, he revealed that the action of the RSF is ethnically marked by its attacks on African-populated localities, including Durma, Umoshosh, Sarafaya and Ozbani, burned to the ground by the militia.
Since its outbreak in April last year, the conflict has claimed the lives of more than 14,000 persons, more than that number injured, destroyed infrastructure, homes, and industries, and displaced more than eight million people.
