On the sidelines of the Conference, which is being attended by more than 40 African countries, as disclosed here today, Chiwenga and his delegation expect to address diplomatic and economic issues, for which several investor exploration meetings have already been scheduled.
Among other meetings, the vice president is scheduled to meet with top Iranian government leaders, including President Ebrahim Raisi.
According to local press, the visit is a result of efforts by Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa to open the country “for business.”
President Raisi visited Zimbabwe in 2023, when he held meetings with Mnangagwa, and when 12 memorandums of understanding were signed in different areas.
Upon his arrival in Tehran, Chiwenga was received by Iran’s Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare, and co-chairman of the Zimbabwe/Iran Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation, Solat Mortazavi.
