A statement released on Thursday night by the Vice President for Youth and Sports, Mervin Maldonado, on his Telegram account, described the US decision as interference and a flagrant violation of what is established in the internal regulations and the fundamental principles of Olympism.

The press release stressed that US authorities unjustifiably denied ‘accreditation and access to the representative designated by Venezuela,’ although Washington holds the pro tempore presidency and hosts the CADE meeting.

He emphasized that this violates the fundamental principles of sport. Venezuela ratified its ‘firmness and commitment to respectful talks and cooperation,’ in order to strengthen policies that revitalize sports values.
