On the Russian side, deep concern was expressed over another dangerous escalation in the region as a result of multiple unresolved crises, particularly in the area of the Israel-Palestine conflict, according to the statement, published on the official website of the Foreign Ministry.

The press release notes the importance of “resolving the existing problems by political and diplomatic means with the help of constructive international actors.”

In addition, the two diplomats discussed cooperation in the Astana format with a view to achieving comprehensive and sustainable peace in Syria, as well as other current regional issues.

They also agreed to pursue an in-depth exchange of views on all issues of mutual interest.

The two diplomats met on the sidelines of the meetings of the Brics deputy foreign ministers and special envoys for the Middle East and Africa.
