New economic businesses attend exhibition in Cuban province

Sancti Spíritus, Cuba, Apr 26 (Prensa Latina) The micro, small and medium-sized enterprise (MIPYME) Laminados Concepción is one of the new entrepreneurs attending the first Provincial Exposition, ExpoYayabo 2024, which is still open here today.

Yarisel Concepción, commercial manager of the aforementioned MIPYME, told Prensa Latina that it also functions as a local development project and promotes production chains and import substitution.

Among the most recent programs, she mentioned the productive chaining with the Biopharmaceutical Laboratories Company (Labiofam) where the waste from Laminados Concepción “is used to obtain products based on alcohols and inks”, she said.

We are also working on an exclusive line of Habanos for the production of packaging, in principle for approval, and we are continuing with our leading product, which is the production of cedar sheets for use in the interlining of export tobacco boxes, she explained.

We are working on tongue depressors, with a view to replacing imports and manufacturing them for the province and extending them throughout the country, she said.

She highlighted the opportunity for this MIPYME to participate in the recent 24th Habano Festival, held in the Cuban capital, and in the Havana International Fair Fihav 2022.

She spoke of the existing linkage with the Sancti Spíritus Agroforestry Company and the incorporation of others in the country, and explained that the cedar is a tree to be protected, so there are limits to its use and exploitation.

She also referred to the agreement established with companies in the municipalities of Fomento, Cabaiguán and Trinidad.

ExpoYayabo 2024 is dedicated to the 510th anniversary of the founding of the towns of Trinidad and Sancti Spíritus, the third and fourth, respectively, of the first seven settled in Cuba by the Spaniards, and to May Day, International Workers’ Day.
