Cuba and Vietnam celebrate April of victories in Ho Chi Minh City

Hanoi, Apr 26 (Prensa Latina) Cuba and Vietnam met again, this time in southern Ho Chi Minh City, to celebrate April's victories that both peoples proudly recall.

Attending the celebration were: Cuba’s Consulate General in this country, the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO), the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association, local leaders, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, university students, diplomats, and Cuban residents.

The meeting echoed the historical significance of the triumph accomplished in less than 72 hours by the Cuban people, under the leadership of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, 63 years ago at Playa Giron (Bay of Pigs), over the mercenary invasion financed, trained, and organized by the United States.

The gathering also glorified the definitive liberation of South Vietnam, which became a reality on April 30, 1975, with the entry of the Revolutionary Army into the Independence Palace in Saigon and the long-awaited national reunification.

Vietnam has unconditionally supported Cuba’s profound socio-economic reforms and stance on safeguarding sovereignty and territorial integrity while sharing its ideals and principles on international issues, as stated by Truong Thi Hien, Chairwoman of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association.

She also noted that bilateral relations are expanding in several fields, including agriculture, industry, construction, culture, education, science, technology, and medical care.

In her remarks, Cuban Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Ariadne Feo Labrada advocated for further strengthening multi-faceted cooperation between her country and several Vietnamese localities, including the southern metropolis, and promoting exchanges to step up people-to-people diplomacy between the two countries.
