The National Electoral Council called for new elections to be held on July 28th of this year in order to elect the President of the Republic”, said the diplomat after being introduced by the rector, Pedro Quiroz.
Before an audience made up also by political scientists, jurists and leaders of social organizations, the diplomat informed that at present there are 12 candidates supported by 37 political organizations that complied with all the legal requirements of registration before the National Electoral Council.
He informed that, of these, 11 belong to opposition factors, who have the support of 26 organizations out of the 37 registered.
Trompiz explained that only the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) endorsed the nomination of its candidate, President Nicolas Maduro, with the signatures of more than 4,500,000 militants and grassroots leaders.
He described that for this purpose, popular assemblies were held in 269 thousand streets, 50 000 communities and 14 000 electoral centers throughout the national territory, where the PSUV has organizational structures.
He is the only candidate who has the support of 4.5 million people in favor of his candidacy and presented a complete government program -the Ambassador explained-, that is why all serious polls of commercial and political intelligence show him as the favorite’, he indicated.
He underlined that, for this reason, the hegemonic media at the service of the US Government and the Venezuelan opposition sector aligned with Washington’s aspirations of domination are trying to delegitimize this very possible victory.
