Bolivia and Russia to review bilateral agenda

La Paz, Apr 26 (Prensa Latina) The official visit of the Foreign Minister of Bolivia, Celinda Sosa, to Russia, leads to a review of the bilateral agenda, as confirmed by the Bolivian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Sosa will remain in Russia until next Saturday, and during that period she will meet with her counterpart, Sergei Lavrov. “Both Foreign Ministries will address the perspectives of political dialogue, the development of bilateral ties, the improvement of the legal and contractual basis, and the ways to expand cooperation in various areas,” stated an institutional report.

Sosa’s main objective is to strengthen ties dating back to 1898, address issues of mutual interest, and review agreements in the process of negotiation between both parties.

Bolivia attaches importance to maintaining an open and constructive dialogue to promote international cooperation in political, economic, cultural, scientific, commercial, and investment fields and for the benefit of joint development between two friendly nations.

The most recent meeting between Sosa and Lavrov took place on February 21st in the context of the G20 meeting in Rio de Janeiro. The Minister of Hydrocarbons of Bolivia, Franklin Molina, who also participated in the talks, expressed that they transcended borders, marking the path towards a future of solid cooperation between both nations.

The Governments of Bolivia and Russia resumed bilateral cooperation in December 2020 and promoted agreements on hydrocarbons, lithium, and peaceful uses of nuclear energy.

In September 2022, in a brief statement to Prensa Latina, Rogelio Mayta, who was then Foreign Minister of Bolivia, reported that Lavrov said during a meeting at the United Nations that Arce was invited to visit Russia.
