Earlier in the day, Blinken met with the Communist Party secretary in Shanghai, Chen Jining, and called on China and the United States to manage their differences responsibly.
The head of US diplomacy also visited the New York University in Shanghai to meet with professors and students of that school.
According to Blinken’s agenda, the US official will meet with academics in Beijing.
The US Secretary of State, who is in China at the invitation of Foreign Minister Wang Yi, will conclude his three-day official visit to China on Friday.
