Belgium to summon Israel’s ambassador over worker’s death in Gaza

Brussels, Apr 25 (Prensa Latina) Belgium will summon Israel's ambassador over the death in the Gaza Strip of an employee from the Belgian development and cooperation agency Enabel, Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib announced on Thursday.

On her X profile, the head of Belgian diplomacy wrote that “bombing civilian areas and populations is contrary to international law. I will call the representative of Tel Aviv, Idit Rosenzweig-Abu, to condemn this unacceptable act and demand an explanation.”

On Thursday, the Belgian Government denounced the death of an agency worker and his family during Israel’s bombing of the city of Rafah.

Minister of Cooperation Caroline Gennez, in turn, affirmed that the man, identified as Abdallah Nabhan, was one of Enabel’s employees included on a list of persons authorized to leave Gaza.

According to a company statement, Nabhan, 33, was killed along with his seven-year-old son, Yamal, his father, brother and six-year-old niece, while his wife is in a critical condition and his two other children, aged five years and seven months, have minor injuries.
