“Ahead of global challenges, multilateralism is more important than ever nowadays,” the Secretary of Foreign Affairs Alicia Barcena said.
Multilateralism is the joint work of two or more countries to solve issues of mutual interest and diplomacy for peace, meanwhile, seeks preponderance of actions by nations by virtue of curbing conflicts, she added.
Therefore, since 2018, every April 24, the United Nations celebrates the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace.
According to resolution A/RES/73/127, established by the General Assembly (UNGA), this day serves to promote values of the UN Charter and its principles of solving disputes among countries through peaceful means.
