In spite of the deployment of the National Gendarmerie and the Federal Police, a crowd began to arrive near the Congress and Plaza de Mayo, while other protests are taking place in Rosario, Mar del Plata, Tucuman, Cordoba and Santiago del Estero, among other territories.
Protesters arrived in different means of transport and the main avenues are witnessing the large number of participants, many of them carrying books and being applauded from the balconies.
Local media described this day as historic, which was called by the National Universities Union Front, the Argentinian University Federation and the Inter-University Council, which brings together the authorities of over 50 centers of higher education.
The General Confederation of Labor, the Mothers and Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo, the State Workers Association, the Justicialist Party, La Campora, the Radical Civic Union, the Workers’ Union (CTA) and the Autonomous CTA, among many other organizations, have also confirmed their involvement in the demonstration.
The Governor of Buenos Aires Axel Kicillof will further attend, and the initiative was supported by former Presidents Alberto Fernandez and Cristina Fernandez, and Nobel Peace Prize winner Adolfo Perez Esquivel.
