During a visit to Senegal by European Council President Charles Michel, the African head of State noted that cooperation with the bloc is multiform, and a new shared vision of a fairer international order must exist.
Faye said that he favored a partnership that can support an innovative dynamics to help achieve the materialization of a program for a sovereign, just, and prosperous Senegal in a continent in progress.
The president also addressed the Sahel region’s situation, including the fight against terrorism.
Michel, in turn, described his visit and the meeting with Faye as fruitful to achieve a quality bilateral partnership that contains issues such as irregular migration and regional security.
The new Senegalese president, who was sworn in on April 2, promised to implement a program of political and economic reforms, including renegotiating exploitation contracts in the leading industries, especially oil, gas, and fishing, to restore national sovereignty.
