It is something very good.
It is a matter to benefit millions of workers.
¨This reform is to correct a grievance, a damage caused during the neoliberal period¨, said the President when answering a journalist’s question in his usual press conference.
From the National Palace, Lopez Obrador recalled that both in the government of former President Ernesto Zedillo (1994-2000) and Felipe Calderon (2006-2012) the Constitution was modified so that workers did not receive their full salary at the time of retirement.
To correct that law is that the deputies approved this reform.
They don’t like it, and who doesn’t like the law, well, those who approved Zedillo’s and Calderon’s laws at that time’, he denounced.
He explained that the Retirement Fund Administrators (Afores) have money that people have not claimed and, with the reform, that amount will go to the Pension Fund for Welfare, but it is not the only source of financing, as there will also be, among others, what the authorities confiscate for illegal acts, such as residences or airplanes.
Lopez Obrador clarified that the right to claim those funds does not prescribe, so that if a worker wants to claim it, he/she can do so and it will be delivered to him/her.
‘We are talking about 28 million workers who are going to benefit from the welfare pension fund and that they (citizens) should not be fooled, because there is a campaign against it’, said the ruler, pointing out that ‘conservatives, opponents, corrupt, are trying to manipulate it’.
