Ahmed Abu Zeid, spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, condemned the incident in a statement and demanded punishment for those responsible. “It is regrettable and shameful that violations of international law and humanitarian values continue so flagrantly in the 21st century, in the sight and ears of all countries,” he said.
Press reports and complaints from the authorities of the Gaza Strip indicate that in recent days more than 200 bodies were found (some reports raise the figure to nearly 300), including patients, presumably murdered by the Israeli military during the assault on the hospital.
Abu Zeid condemned repeated Israeli violations in Gaza, including attacks on civilians, displaced people, and medical equipment, and reiterated the urgent need for international intervention to stop such crimes and conduct the necessary investigations to hold the perpetrators accountable.
The diplomat warned that the recent killings, destruction, and violence in the West Bank are equally alarming and dangerous because they exacerbate the crisis and threaten to provoke a regional outbreak.
