Abinader told local media that ‘he will never change the terms of election.’
This is what we have advocated and will continue to do so.
It is necessary to place a ‘padlock’ to the Constitution, so that no president, regardless of his majority in Congress, can change the terms of election,’ he added.
He stated that as president, the two main reforms he seeks to promote are the one related to the re-election issue and the independence of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
During his traditional meeting with representatives of national media, Abinader presented a report on the progress made in Santiago de los Caballeros during his administration (2020-2024) in areas like education, health care, infrastructure, electricity and water.
