His place in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be taken by Daniel García-Peña, a graduate in arts, who already served when he was consul of the South American nation in the capital of France during part of the government of Juan Manuel Santos (2010-2018).
He also holds a master’s degree in Latin American political studies, was a professor and director of the Department of History at the Universidad de Los Andes, and also an academic of Political Science at the Universidad Nacional.
According to the information disclosed, he was a member of the M-19, a Colombian urban guerrilla organization, and advisor during the National Constituent Assembly in 1991.
He also served from 1995 to 1998 as High Commissioner for Peace in the government of Ernesto Samper (1994-1998).
Francisco Coy was appointed Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs in August 2022 and has held the rank of ambassador since 2011.
