Progress in Cuba’s tourism recovery highlighted

Havana, Apr 22 (Prensa Latina) The gradual recovery of tourism in Cuba was highlighted on Monday by local media, which reflected positive criteria and data in this regard.

Granma newspaper reported on Monday that Cuba received 809,000 tourists in the first quarter of this year, accounting for a 7.5-percent growth compared to the same period last year.

The newspaper reported on figures published by the National Office of Statistics and Information (ONEI) and Prensa Latina.

According to these sources, Granma reiterated, in general, the number of travelers increased by 983,261 tourists at the end of the first quarter, which meant a growth of 6.1 percent, according to the same comparison.

The informative note specified that until last March, Cuba received 56,557 more travelers than during the same period in 2023, while the number of international visitors reached 809,238; that is, 56,807 more than in the first quarter of last year.

Like other Cuban and foreign media, the report noted that Cuba’s major tourist sending markets are Canada, Russia, the United States, Germany, France, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Spain and Argentina, as well as the Cuban community overseas.
