The event, in which Cuba has the opportunity to participate for the first time, will bring together international experts in New Delhi on April 24 and 25 under the slogan Investing Today for a More Resilient Tomorrow. Participants are expected to agree on a road map with ideas that mobilize public and private sector financing for disaster mitigation.
The tone of its sixth edition will be set by high-level statements on the importance of aligning investment with climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction and sustainable development, according to the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI).
The CDRI is a partnership of national governments, United Nations agencies and programs, multilateral development banks and financial mechanisms, the private sector and knowledge institutions, according to its website.
It promotes the rapid development of resilient infrastructure to respond to the Sustainable Development Goal’s imperatives of expanding universal access to basic services, with a focus on prosperity and decent work.
Its priorities include technical support and capacity building, research and knowledge management, as well as promotion and international partnership building.
