According to filmmaker and actor Jorge Perugorría, founder and president of the Festival, some ten feature films and 20 short films will compete and will be evaluated by juries specialized in cinema and science, according to the event’s subject.
Perugorría, who was recently awarded the 2024 National Cinema Award, noted that all events will be open and the screenings will be free.
Cinema, visual arts, tributes, entrepreneurship, and creative industries will merge in this 2nd Isla Verde International Film and Environment Festival of the Caribbean, one of the leading events of the Month of Europe in Cuba, which will conclude on May 9.
The Isla Verde Awards will be grant a posthumous prize to the recently deceased Cuban filmmaker Daniel Diez. Colombian oceanographer, climatologist, and 2007 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Diana Ruiz will also be awarded.
