Cuba solidarity groups in Italy evoke the Bay of Pigs victory

Rome, Apr 19 (Prensa Latina) The National Association of Italy-Cuba Friendship (Anaic), recalled today in a statement the 63rd anniversary of the victory of the Cuban people against the invasion of its territory, through the Bay of Pigs, of mercenary forces at the service of the United States.

In a note published on its official website and through social networks, Anaic highlights how the mercenary landing, which began at 1:30 a.m. local time on April 17, 1961, failed in less than 72 hours.

At 17:30 on a day like today, April 19, the military operations under the command of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro, ended, barely 64 hours after the attack began, in what constituted the first great military defeat of U.S. imperialism.

All over the world, thousands of people denounced this aggression against Cuba orchestrated by the United States and expressed their solidarity with the nascent Revolution in Cuba.

“In the main Italian cities, numerous demonstrators took to the streets to give their support to Cuba, a fact that led to the formation of the first groups of the National Association of Italy-Cuba Friendship.”
