DPRK congratulates Syria on its independence anniversary

Pyongyang, Apr 18 (Prensa Latina) The chairman of the State Affairs Committee of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kim Jong Un, congratulated the Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad, on the 78th anniversary of the independence of that country.

As reported today by the state news agency KCNA, the message of the also general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea congratulated the Syrian government and people for their successes in defending national sovereignty and economic and social development in the face of attempts by hostile forces.

Kim expressed the DPRK’s support and solidarity ‘for the just cause of the Syrian government and people to preserve the sovereignty, peace and security of the nation’ and hoped for strengthening the traditional ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

On April 17, Syria celebrates its National Day because on this date in 1946 it expelled the French colonialists.
