This Wednesday, the Deputy Minister of Consular and Institutional Management, Fernando Pérez, received at the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry the interim chargé d’affaires of the Argentine embassy in Bolivia, Lucas Ezequiel Demaría, who was summoned about the matter.
“We emphatically reject the presence of 700 members of the Armed Forces of Iran or any other country,” said Pérez at the end of the meeting, adding that he requested that the Minister of Security retract her statements in the media.
According to reports, during the talk Demaría was reminded of Bolivia’s character as a pacifist nation, established in the Political Constitution of the State, a position defended by the president, Luis Arce, during the 78th and 79th sessions of the United Nations, in which he reiterated the need to turn the world into a region of peace.
Bolivia works to strengthen dialogue, agreement, and debate between brother countries, Pérez said.
The Bolivian minister reiterated to the Argentine representative his concern that these types of statements, without any support or foundation, generate unnecessary confrontations between brotherly nations.
