Ramona de Saá Bello, an outstanding Cuban ballet figure, dies

Havana, Apr 17 (Prensa Latina) Maitre Ramona de Saá Bello, an outstanding Cuban dance pedagogue in the contemporary world, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 84.

Internationally renowned for her dancing teachings, De Saá Bello was a disciple of Alicia Alonso, longtime director of the Fernando Alonso National Ballet School (ENB), an assistant professor at the Higher Institute of Art (ISA), and a methodologist at the National Center of Art Schools (CNEArt).

De Sáa Bello was one of the most prominent and versatile ballet figures in Cuba, and her work supports the creative and pedagogical movement of this artistic expression.

She was granted the Doctor Honoris Causa degree in Arts in 2000 and the National Prize for Artistic Education in 2002, as an acknowledgement of her career, which included 45 years teaching ballet in Cuba.

Ramona de Saá’s legacy goes beyond the artistic aspect. Due to her dedication, moral strength, ethics, simplicity, and altruism, she earned the respect and admiration of all.
