According to the source, the visit to the special municipality is part of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) leadership’s tours throughout the country and is the third time in 2024 that the president visits that territory.

“Even though there is much left to transform in this beautiful place in Cuba, several of the projects visited attest that the territory is a reference for everything that can be done based on the country’s development,” the head of State noted on X.

The Cuban Presidency reported that Díaz-Canel had visited the La Celia organoponic farm, where after several years with very poor results, members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) have revitalized since last March and several products are already being harvested.

The main destinations of La Celia’s products are sales to the population in local markets and supply to the homes of children without parental protection and day care centers, the post indicated.

According to information from the local newspaper Victoria, the president, who was accompanied by the secretary of organization of the PCC Central Committee, Roberto Morales, also visited the Agua Santa venture to appreciate the valuable experience of the local development project consolidated by producers Raudel Rives and Agneris Rivas.

The program included a visit to the Dairy Complex, which has also had difficulties in its operation, with a view to exchanging experiences with workers and managers about valuable practices to reverse the situation and thus contribute to the territory and the nation, the newspaper added.

There, Díaz-Canel urged to diversify production to make better use of the installed capacities and was interested in the supply of milk to the industry. He was pleased to learn that more than 80 percent of the product that children receive is fresh milk.

The president suggested taking advantage of the productive chain with non-state sector ventures in order to incorporate supplies such as whey and other products that are currently in deficit, the information noted.

Díaz-Canel also called to continue to working on the territory’s self-sufficiency to guarantee milk for children, the elderly and the population in general.
