As explained on the site www.radio26.cu, the event, based at the Arenas Blancas Hotel in the spa city of Varadero, has the objective of stimulating plural participation and fraternization among researchers, scholars, poets, musicians and cultists.
Representatives from Spain, Puerto Rico, Panama, Chile, Venezuela and Cuba will attend the Congress and will address topics related, among others, to the presence of women in tradition and the search for formulas to motivate the approach of new generations to improvised verse.
According to the website, the event will provide a space for reflection and central debate in which keynote lectures, plenary interventions, panels will be held, and working committees will be formed based on topics of various kinds.
The II Ibero-American Congress of the Décima and the Improvised Verse is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Convention and the Centennial of the Birth of Adolfo Alfonso Fernández, prominent cultivator of the Cuban point and 2004 National Music Prize winner.
The first edition of the Congress was held in the province of Havana in 2022 and honored the poet Jesús Orta Ruiz (El Indio Naborí), a flagship figure of culture in the largest of the Antilles.
