In an official statement, the OCLAE ratified its commitment to the defense of public education and the right of students organizations and groups in Argentina or any other country in the region and the world to demand their rights in the face of the governments’ responsibility.
The youth organization urged to accompany the mobilization called by the Argentine University Federation (FUA), the National Interuniversity Council (CIN) and the Trade Union Front of National Universities for next week throughout Argentina, from its role as an articulation force of students.
It also alluded to the economic and social situation of the Argentine people, who are going through the unprecedented dismantling of rights already endorsed and won by students, women, unions and pensioners.
“These rights today are being destroyed by the power of neoliberalism in a extreme rightwing version or combination and at the same time in close relationship with imperialism and its interest,” the OCLAE noted.
The youth organization called to promote actions, from every position, to accompany the struggle and demands of the Argentine students movement.
For several months now, the students movement and teaching unions in Argentina have been organizing protests to demand pay raises and to reject the cuts promoted by the Government of Javier Milei in the sector.
