According to a Foreign Ministry statement, the situation in the coastal enclave was the focus of talks in Cairo between Shoukry and United Nations Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza, Sigrid Kaag.
During the meeting, Kaag reviewed with the head of Egyptian diplomacy her efforts to implement the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2720, which regulates the facilitation, coordination, and monitoring of delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Shoukry stressed to Kaag the need to address urgently the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza caused by the shortage of food, medicine, water, and fuel.
He reiterated Cairo’s support for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
Shoukry again accused Israel of obstructing the delivery of international aid to the Gazans and called on Israel to reopen all land crossings to Gaza to allow more goods and assistance to enter.
