Sources of that government structure announced that the corresponding clarification should be requested through regular channels.
“We deny the accusation that Bolivian passports are granted to Iranian citizens (…) The General Directorate of Migration will request the clarification of the case, respecting the regular channels between both countries,” according to a statement issued by the state entity.
The Migration Department stressed in the text that it has “strict procedures and high-security measures for granting and controlling the issuance of current passports.”
It reiterated that “those documents are issued only to Bolivian citizens who meet the requirements established by law,” in addition to complying with the security regulations established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for such purposes.
The host, Eduardo Feinman, made the fake news on his “Alguien Tiene Que Decirlo” (Someone Has to Say It) program of Radio Mitre Más.
The controversial communicator affirmed that a source from Casa Rosada (Presidential Palace) in Argentina told him that “there are Iranian citizens with Bolivian passports in Bolivia.”
About the issue, Feinman was denounced in 2017 for spreading fake news about an alleged migration policy of Bolivia. ef/iff/mem/jpm
