In a press conference, the diplomat expressed that Iran does not want more tensions in the region and the attack against Israel was in self-defense and retaliation against Israeli aggression. It was carried out in a professional, logical and responsible manner, he stressed.
Tehran’s representative to the United Nations, Amir Said Iravani, declared that the Iranian operation was carried out within the framework of self-defense permitted by international law and that it only focused on military targets to avoid civilian casualties, unlike the Israeli attack in Syria.
During an emergency meeting of the Security Council to discuss the Iranian response, the Islamic Republic’s delegate attacked Western countries that question Tehran’s right to respond to Tel Aviv’s aggression.
Iravani said that Iran has exercised patience for a long time, but “the time has come for Israel to be responsible for its crimes,” and asked the Security Council to apply Chapter 7th sanctions on Tel Aviv for not respecting its resolutions.
He also stressed that Iran is not interested in entering into a war against the United States in the region, but warned that if Washington attacks Iran’s interests, the Islamic Republic will respond firmly.
The Aerospace Force of the Revolutionary Guard launched dozens of missiles and drones against Israeli military targets on Saturday night in response to the Zionist attack against the Iranian consulate in Damascus earlier in the month that killed 11 people, among them diplomats and two generals visiting Syria.
Since last October 7th, Israeli forces carried out seven attacks against Iranian leaders and advisors in Syria, in the midst of Tel Aviv’s genocidal campaign in the Gaza Strip and violating all international norms and laws.
