He mentioned the importance of peacekeeping and security, which will be addressed at the negotiation table with Chinese leaders in Beijing.

Scholz expressed interest in cultural and scientific exchanges and the development of new industries.

Despite the decline in bilateral tourism due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the chancellor highlighted the increase in mutually beneficial cooperation and dialogue between Germany and China, especially in education.

Fang Shouen, secretary of the Communist Party’s Committee at Tongji University, described the institution as a bridge and a beacon in Chinese-German cooperation and welcomed Scholz at a special event to share ideas and mutual understanding.

Scholz’s agenda in China includes meetings in Shanghai, Chongqing, and Beijing. He is accompanied by a ministerial and business delegation and representatives of prominent companies like Siemens, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
