Deadline for departure of Afghan migrants from Pakistan expires

Kabul, Apr 15 (Prensa Latina) The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned about the situation of Afghan migrants expelled from Pakistan, when today the departure deadline set by Islamabad is at hand.

In its latest report, OCHA reported increased aid organizations’ activities to assist deportees at the Torkham and Spin Boldak border crossings.

Meanwhile, the Afghan Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations announced talks with the Pakistani embassy in Kabul, on resolving the challenges faced by Afghan migrants in Pakistan and their gradual return.

The expulsion of Afghan immigrants from Pakistan and Iran is a controversial issue that has worried the Islamic Emirate (Taliban government) and humanitarian organizations for months.

Migrants expelled from Pakistan and Iran have consistently complained about the economic challenges they encounter upon reaching Afghan soil, and have requested assistance and shelter.
