The Latin American and Caribbean bloc strongly condemned in a statement the Israel genocide in the Gaza Strip, which added “to the endless suffering of the Palestinian people and has jeopardized peace in the region”.
It also denounced Israel´s impunity and the UN Security Council (UNSC)´s inaction, which remained silent ahead of the unlawful Zionist attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, have brought about “a serious risk of regionalization of the conflict” with unpredictable consequences.
ALBA-TCP called on UNSC to work hard on reaching an immediate and permanent cease-fire, guaranteeing provision of necessary humanitarian aid and fostering conditions conducive to a stable and lasting peace.
It considered it imperative that “there be no further escalation that could lead to further suffering and instability.”
The Member States of the integration bloc called upon the international community to guarantee that peace prevails and supported all necessary and timely efforts for the parties involved in the conflict to cease hostilities.
They urged in this regard to channel their differences on the basis of respect of international law, the provisions of the UN Charter and its resolutions.
