Given the dangerous regional escalation of the conflict in the Middle East and the recent attack against Israel, Uruguay strongly condemns the use of force by Iran and regrets the worsening of the conflict.

Uruguay´s Foreign Ministry also regretted “the consequences that this escalated conflict could bring about for the tragic humanitarian situation and civilian victims in the region.”

The statement added that the Foreign Ministry is in permanent contact with the Uruguayan embassies in the area and the consular services remain at the service of the community of compatriots that could be affected.

Meanwhile, politicians related to the government coalition rejected the Iranian armed response.

We strongly condemn Iran’s attack on Israel, reported National Party candidate Álvaro Delgado.

His rival for the so-called White Party, Laura Raffo, considered that “Iran´s military attack over Israel is a serious blow to peace in the Middle East.”
