Nicolas Maduro evoked Chavez’s return to power after a coup d’etat

Caracas, Apr 14 (Prensa Latina) The President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, evoked today the 22nd anniversary of the return to power of Commander Hugo Chavez (1954-2013) and considered this day of resurrection of the homeland, the people and the Bolivarian Revolution.

Through his account in X social media, the dignitary expressed that the people and the patriotic military did what had never happened before in the history of Venezuela.

He affirmed that “it was a miracle to rescue the nation and its legitimate President from death. Long live the Popular and Military Rebellion of April!”.

He declared that in 48 hours the “criminal dictatorship of the coup perpetrators was dismantled by the Bolivarian Fury”, a powerful civic-military union that since then has been defending the homeland with honor, conscience and courage.

Before thousands of his followers in an rally on Saturday to commemorate the people’s victory against the coup d’etat of 2002, the President celebrated the perfect civic-military unity that allowed the popular triumph of April 13.

He underlined that it was this union that rescued Chavez, democracy and the Constitution.

Maduro called to value every day that example and sacrifice of the Bolivarian leader who was capable of “giving us the only thing he had: his health and his life”, he stressed.

The President proposed at the event a constitutional reform to add life imprisonment to the Constitution for crimes of corruption, treason and other serious illegalities against the people, in addition to disqualification for life.

“We have to be relentless, whoever falls! I ask for all the support of the people in the fight against corruption,” he insisted.
